Centrifugal pumps are not self-priming. They must be primed using the lever.

The fluid is drawn into the center of the impeller and discharged at the periphery.

Perfectly suitable for transfer from a drum or low-height tank. The rotating parts not being in contact with the pump casing, these parts wear very little and require no maintenance.
