Radiant plaster ceiling: high-performance heating

Contrary to popular belief, ceiling radiant heating is no less efficient than underfloor heating. Radiant heat does not depend on air convection: it directly heats surfaces, objects, and occupants. With only 13 mm of plaster between the source and the room, efficiency reaches 80%. Response time is fast thanks to negligible inertia, without the mass of a floating screed. Surface temperature does not exceed 32°C at nominal operation.

Installation and implementation

Installation requires plasterboards specially adapted to the PRP technique. Panels connect via the garland to a junction box, then to the thermostat powered by 230V single-phase. A thermal study and layout plan are mandatory. Implementation must comply with NF C15100, CPT-PRP, and current technical approval. It is reserved for QUALIBAT 7151, 7152, or 7153 qualified companies, or carried out in coordination between heating electrician and certified ceiling installer.

Recommended sizing

Very good insulation: 75 W/m² for supplementary heating, 85 W/m² for main heating

Average insulation: up to 100 W/m² maximum

Poor insulation: system not recommended, prefer another solution

A standard box develops 73.3 W/m². Kits cover from 1.80 m² to 30.60 m² depending on models (132 W to 2244 W).
